History
Nelson Electric Co. Ltd. was a British company in the early receiving-valve market. Its products were available in the mid-1920s; the stated address in 1926 was Merton Park, London SW19. Nelson Multi identified a family addressing filament life through a construction with selectable elements.
Four Multivalves were offered in 1926: A, DEA, DE2 and DE.06, the last also written D.E.06 or DE06. Each contained three filaments controlled by a scissor switch beneath the base. If one filament broke, another could be selected; a different switch position connected two filaments in parallel for use as a power valve. The selector therefore operated in the filament circuit, without replacing the complete tube.
Two circular labels appeared on the glass: one carried Nelson Multi and a portrait of Lord Nelson; the other stated British manufacture and had BBC at its centre. The D.E.06 band specified a filament voltage of 2.8–3.0 V and current of 0.06 A. The names Nelson Valve Company and Nelson Electric alone do not establish a corporate transition; the company's exact opening and closing dates remain undetermined.
