In depth

In AVO equipment, the SM7 receiving socket on adapter 6 accepts the SA7 base. UX7 instead uses adapter 18. The two accessories must not automatically be treated as the same socket.

The interface has seven contact positions. The AVO adapter number and the connections used to attach it to the instrument belong to the test accessory, not to the mechanical designation of the receiving socket. Abbreviations therefore need the manufacturer's context.

The illustrated layout has five small and two larger openings, the latter at positions 1 and 7. Their diameter difference assists orientation. Metric diameters and centre spacings are not available here.

Adapter 6 connects the SM7 socket to the AVO instrument's A08 interface. A08 is therefore the instrument connection, while SA7 identifies the base received. Confusing the two sides would turn a test accessory into a false equivalence between bases.
