In depth
The 2K45 family retains seven receptacles at Octal positions 1,2,3,5,6,7 and 8, leaving position 4 for the RF coupling passage. The keyed central guide remains the mechanical reference.
Raytheon 2K45 uses an Octal socket with an enlarged opening at position 4 and seven populated pins. Bendix 6116 and TK-62 are comparable to 2K45 in overall size and to 2K45/2K25 in coaxial transducer, without extending these correspondences to every Octal RF construction.
A common lower socket does not automatically establish equivalence of the entire RF system or wiring. The four-contact 2K25 family differs; five-pin 5981 with its threaded transducer requires a specific comparison. Thermal tuning and other operating details belong to the valve and installation.
Raytheon 2K45 construction is also identified as JETEC B9-93. This does not mean nine ordinary populated pins: the drawing shows seven electrical contacts, the central guide and a dedicated RF-output passage. The illustrated receiver is a modified Amphenol 58 or equivalent.
Insertion checking uses a gauge with seven holes of 2.6162 mm diameter and 6.35 mm depth, plus a separate output passage. These are inspection-gauge dimensions, not pin or socket-spring diameters. The distinction matters when extracting dimensions for base identification.
The interface also includes the coaxial part and waveguide connection. Octal-seat compatibility alone does not establish that the transducer, mounting height and RF connection are correct. Variants with different populated pin counts remain separate.
