GRAPH SOLVER
GraphSolver was born out of a very concrete need: the ability to recover and reuse graphs that are only available as images or PDFs, often in low resolution, from old technical documents, datasheets, manuals, or scans found online.
Many documents from a few decades ago contain curves and graphs that are still valuable today for calculations, comparisons, and design tasks. However, when the original graph is difficult to read or the original numerical data no longer exists, it becomes difficult to use it reliably, include it in new documentation, or rework it for other purposes.
With GraphSolver, you can transform a graph from an image or PDF into usable numerical data. After importing the document, you calibrate the axes, acquire the curve points, and obtain a new, clean graph that can be exported as SVG, JPG, or PDF. The extracted data can also be exported to Excel, allowing you to analyze, modify, or use it in other software.
The result is a regenerated graph, more readable and ready to be printed, archived, shared, or integrated into new technical.
GraphSolver is particularly useful for those who work with historical technical documentation, electronic component datasheets, vacuum tube graphs, characteristic curves, experimental data, technical research, or archival material.

After downloading, the software can be activated with a valid license. The license is managed through the integrated activation system.
Calibration
The first operation to perform is importing the graph you want to work on.
To import the file, you can click on the “Import source” button in the top-left menu, or use the same option available in the File menu.
The supported formats are: JPG, JPEG, PNG, BMP, TIF, TIFF, and PDF.
Once the image is loaded, you can zoom in or out using the mouse wheel. To move around within the image, you can use the pan function by holding down the right mouse button or by pressing the spacebar.
At this point, it is necessary to calibrate the two axes of the graph: X and Y.
To start, click the “Calibrate X” button. The software will automatically attempt to generate a horizontal line. If the graph does not have perfectly orthogonal axes, you can disable this function by clicking the “Orthogonal Axes” button.
Then, click on the furthest point on the X-axis, trying to stay aligned with the maximum value shown on the axis. After placing the first point, the software will display a preview of the temporary axis. The point just entered can be adjusted more precisely using the arrow keys on the keyboard.
Next, position the second point of the X-axis. At this stage, it is possible, and recommended, to go beyond the Y-axis so that the two axes intersect correctly. This will allow the software to automatically identify the origin point, which is zero.
After placing the axis, you will be prompted to enter the maximum X-axis value. The minimum value will be considered zero.
Once the value is confirmed, the X-axis calibration in the menu will turn green, indicating that the axis has been calibrated correctly.
At this point, it is sufficient to repeat the same procedure to calibrate the Y-axis.
Curve
At this point, it's possible to start regenerating the graph curves.
The lines generated by the software are spline and not simple lines. This allows for a more natural following of the original curves' trend, obtaining a more precise and faithful result to the starting graph.
On the right side of the interface, the curve management panel is available. From here, you can create and name multiple curves, each with its own set of points. Curves can also be made visible or hidden, thus facilitating work when multiple tracks need to be reconstructed within the same graph.
Each point entered can be moved, modified, or deleted. To move it, simply select it with the mouse and drag it to the new position, or once selected, it can be moved more precisely using the keyboard arrow keys.
Points can also be modified numerically using the right-hand sidebar. This function is especially useful for precisely setting the origin point, or when you already have the numerical values in a table. In this case, simply double-click the value you want to modify and enter the desired new position.
Regenerated Graph
You can now view a first draft of the regenerated graph to check the result and evaluate if the positioning of the inserted points needs to be modified. The original graph can be displayed in transparency for reference on label placement.
In this new screen, you can define all the main details of the final chart.
The first configurable element is the Title. After selecting it, you can modify its main parameters, such as font, color, position, and size. If not necessary, the title can also be omitted.
The sections Abscissa e Ordinate allow you to configure the text displayed on the axes and all related graphical parameters, in a similar way to how it happens for the title.
In the section Axis limits It is possible to define the maximum values of the axes to consider. From here, it is also possible to change the type of chart, for example by recalculating the points to transform an axis into a logarithmic scale.
The section Output dimensions allows you to set the final dimensions of the chart in centimeters and the resolution in DPI instead. This way, you can directly generate a raster image of the desired size, ready for printing, if you prefer this format over the vector format.
In the section Styles/Curves It is possible to modify the appearance of individual curves by setting the line thickness, color, and visibility. This function can be useful, for example, when you want to print the graph highlighting a specific curve compared to others.
The menu Labels allows you to insert all the necessary descriptive texts into the chart, choosing their position, font, color, and other display parameters.
Finally, the last menu allows you to generate the desired output file. The chart can be exported as a raster image, a vector file, a PDF, or as numerical data in Excel format.
