BY2020 vacuum tube: technical reference
Explore the available information on the BY2020 vacuum tube in the EnryLab technical archive.
The BY2020 is a directly heated general-purpose triode with a European B4 base. The photographed specimen carries the ETA name and type marking on the glass. Its filament requires 2 V; reference sources give either 0.10 or 0.11 A, a difference to retain when preparing a supply or comparing specimen data. The base carries anode on 1, grid on 2 and filament ends on 3 and 4. The filament is itself the emitter, rather than heating a separate cathode.
Internal construction provides the most interesting documented detail. The filament forms a single inverted V tensioned by a thin upper spring. Specimen descriptions identify two notched grid-support rods and two additional vertical rods visible through the anode structure and within the grid. Available sources do not clarify the extra rods’ function: they must not be turned hypothetically into additional electrodes or assigned a particular electrical purpose.
The described specimen’s balloon envelope is about 46 mm in diameter and 88 mm high excluding B4 pins. The top view reveals support arrangement and glass markings; the front view shows the anode and connections descending toward the base. These observations concern that specimen. Retained documentation mainly supports this construction portrait; it provides no original datasheet with sufficient curves and limits to assign a particular output performance or circuit equivalence to the BY2020.

How to use the Valve Archive
EnryLab Valve Archive allows you to search for PDF datasheets and technical documentation by entering the exact code of a vacuum tube. Enter codes such as EL84, ECC83, 12AX7, 6L6GC, or 300B to view variants, manufacturers, and documents available in the technical archive. The search uses exact matches, thus avoiding partial or irrelevant results and making it easier to find the correct datasheet.
Datasheet PDF and frequent searches
The most searched acronyms have dedicated and indexable pages, with clean URLs and linked documentation. You can start with frequent searches to quickly consult the most used valves in the audio, radio, and technical restoration fields.
