E220B vacuum tube: technical reference
Explore the available information on the E220B vacuum tube in the EnryLab technical archive.
The E220B is a directly heated double triode intended for use as an output valve. It therefore combines two triode sections in one envelope. P. H. Brans's 1950 Vade-Mecum lists it under the Triotron brand and gives 2 V for the filament; the same figure appears in the E220B row of the AVO Valve Data Manual. These references allow the type to be described without automatically attributing the performance of other double triodes to it.
In the AVO manual, page 90, the E220B row gives an anode voltage of 150 V and a negative grid bias of 1 V for the characteristic meters and the Type 160 valve tester. The reference columns also list an anode current of 3 mA and a transconductance of 2.5 mA/V; the screen-grid column is blank, consistent with its classification as a double triode. These are test data for the specified instruments, not maximum ratings or a complete operating specification for an output stage.
In the separate columns for the other AVO Valve Tester, the same row gives an anode voltage of 100 V and a reference transconductance of 2.5 mA/V. The two sets must therefore not be combined into a single operating point. Reconstructing an amplifier also requires the circuit conditions, drive and load: the test table alone does not establish an output power. This description preserves that distinction and does not turn the manuals' dates into an introduction date for the E220B.

How to use the Valve Archive
EnryLab Valve Archive allows you to search for PDF datasheets and technical documentation by entering the exact code of a vacuum tube. Enter codes such as EL84, ECC83, 12AX7, 6L6GC, or 300B to view variants, manufacturers, and documents available in the technical archive. The search uses exact matches, thus avoiding partial or irrelevant results and making it easier to find the correct datasheet.
Datasheet PDF and frequent searches
The most searched acronyms have dedicated and indexable pages, with clean URLs and linked documentation. You can start with frequent searches to quickly consult the most used valves in the audio, radio, and technical restoration fields.
