E446 tube: datasheets and technical data
Explore available pinout, electrical data and related types for the E446 vacuum tube.
The Philips Miniwatt E446 is an indirectly heated pentode rated 4 V at about 1.1 A. Our sources place it in early-1930s radio receivers. The Philips booklet lists RF and IF amplification, detection and resistance-coupled audio amplification. It could therefore process signals at several receiver stages, with operating conditions chosen for the circuit.
The 4 October 1933 table gives anode 200 V, screen 100 V, normal anode current 3 mA and negative grid bias about 2 V. Amplification factor is 5000, normal slope 2.5 mA/V, maximum 3.5 mA/V and normal internal resistance 2 MΩ. The 12 July 1934 table instead gives normal slope 2.3 mA/V and internal resistance 2.2 MΩ. These distinct tables are not averaged. The factor 5000 is a valve parameter, not a guaranteed complete-stage gain.
The supplements also differ by date. On 12 July 1934 maximum service screen voltage is 125 V, average screen current 1.2 mA and approximate range 0.8–1.6 mA; on 23 May 1939 these are 150 V, 1.1 mA and 0.8–1.4 mA. Both give maximum anode dissipation 1 W, cathode current 10 mA and screen dissipation 0.3 W. Anode entries Va0 400 V, VaR 250 V and VaL 200 V remain separate: 400 V is not treated as ordinary operating voltage.
Curves show screen-voltage effects on anode current and compare screens at 75 and 100 V with different grid biases. Supplements give grid-current onset −1.4 V, not cut-off; maximum resistances Rg1 1.5 MΩ and Rg2 1 MΩ; maximum heater-cathode difference 50 V. Main tables give anode-grid capacitance 0.002 pF, whereas the 1934 supplement specifies below 0.006 pF and the 1939 supplement again gives 0.002 pF. Date and the kind of specification matter as much as the number.
Tables specify base O35, connection code SXVI, maximum overall length 138 mm and diameter 51 mm. Photos show coated specimens with a top terminal. The booklet has no numbered contact drawing, so SXVI is not converted into an inferred pinout. Precision 660 settings remain tester data, distinct from electrical characteristics. Documentation: Philips Miniwatt E446, ten-page trilingual collection of tables, supplements and curves, including 4 October 1933, 12 July 1934 and 23 May 1939; Precision 660 settings list, E446 row.

How to use the Valve Archive
EnryLab Valve Archive allows you to search for PDF datasheets and technical documentation by entering the exact code of a vacuum tube. Enter codes such as EL84, ECC83, 12AX7, 6L6GC, or 300B to view variants, manufacturers, and documents available in the technical archive. The search uses exact matches, thus avoiding partial or irrelevant results and making it easier to find the correct datasheet.
Datasheet PDF and frequent searches
The most searched acronyms have dedicated and indexable pages, with clean URLs and linked documentation. You can start with frequent searches to quickly consult the most used valves in the audio, radio, and technical restoration fields.
