WE39 vacuum tube: technical reference
Explore the available information on the WE39 vacuum tube in the EnryLab technical archive.
The WE39 is an indirectly heated triode used in radio receivers. The data held in our archive specify a 4 V, 0.65 A heater and a European P8A base with eight side contacts. The designation belongs to the WE series documented in Italy: correct identification requires checking the designation together with the base type and heater data.
Historical confirmation appears in Fritz Kunze's article ‘Italienische Röhren’, published in Funkschau, issue 5/6 of May–June 1944, on page 47. The article describes valves encountered in Italian equipment and includes a table of the WE series. It classifies the WE39 as a triode and lists AC2 alongside it in the Telefunken equivalents column. The number 24 in the base column refers to the magazine's base chart, not to an electrical rating of the valve.
This account shows how a local designation could be linked to one more familiar to repairers working on receivers from different countries. The correspondence with AC2 is thus documented in contemporary literature; however, the table does not provide a complete set of permissible voltages and dissipations for the WE39. It cannot establish unstated electrical limits, nor can 1944 be treated as the valve's introduction year.

How to use the Valve Archive
EnryLab Valve Archive allows you to search for PDF datasheets and technical documentation by entering the exact code of a vacuum tube. Enter codes such as EL84, ECC83, 12AX7, 6L6GC, or 300B to view variants, manufacturers, and documents available in the technical archive. The search uses exact matches, thus avoiding partial or irrelevant results and making it easier to find the correct datasheet.
Datasheet PDF and frequent searches
The most searched acronyms have dedicated and indexable pages, with clean URLs and linked documentation. You can start with frequent searches to quickly consult the most used valves in the audio, radio, and technical restoration fields.
